Not for long, we’ll be visiting the month of the over flow of the gift purchase, giving gifts to people we know in each of the important day. The forth coming important days are Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Thanks Giving Day, Christmas Day, New Year season and so on. A lot of people would think of the gift that they would give away to the people that they know and care about. From the seeking and searching for the best gifts that should be appropriate and matches the personality and the like of the person they want to give the gift to. Sometimes, it’s hard to find the gift that ones really really want.
Debates on Gift Cards are not Gifts
There has been many articles found in various website debating the nature of gift cards and point out that gift cards are not gift. Let us see the description of the gift. The Gift is acting as a present in which ones intend to buy it for the ones that they want to give to, to surprise, to make them happy, to show the giver’s feeling on the receiver, to show gesture, to show care, to show business purposes and many other intention that the giver wants to express on the item that they’re giving. And the debate goes, “selecting the gift cards as gift is considered a oxymoron manner”. This statement was being expressed by Liz Pulliam Weston who wrote an article on “Gift Cards are not gifts” in which focus on the gift card buyer that give the gift card to the receiver because they are lazy finding other things and do not trust their sense of gift selections. The article looks at one side only, it is not the matter of the selection of the gift or gift cards. Giving gift is about the expression of the feeling from the giver to the receiver, to show the appreciation and so on. Thus, when people are buying gift cards as gifts to ones, this might not necessary be the oxymoron case and that the person who receive the gift cards as gift would be looking down and having less trust or appreciation on the gift, it’s actually the matter of how much they like the gift cards as gift!
For conclusion, buying anything as gift for the person we intended to buy for can be anything from A to Z. It doesn’t really matter that you would have to spend times to select the gift from your choice, but on the other hand, we need to see if the person receiving the gift from you is happy or not? Then do not worry if you’re trying to buy a gift card for someone, go for it and see if he/she is happy on the gift card, if not, try to buy something else next time!
